Pattaya Hotels

With a sheen of glamor, a flash of neon, and a burst of disco, Pattaya is a playground for Europe’s brashest and most energetic party animals, as well as an increasingly popular vacation spot for Thai urbanites. Located south of Bangkok, it’s a hedonist’s dream. By night, every vice can be indulged in the libertarian downtown, while sun-drenched days bring water sports and laid-back beach bars. When you need to absolve your sins, seek out one of the sacred temples for a spiritual moment.

Things to see

Under a midnight sky, head to Walking Street, Pattaya’s most notorious strip. Beneath pulsating neon lights and carnival-style decorations, go-go bars and pumping clubs do their best to tempt you into this good-time sin city. When you need to recover from the excesses of the night before, Jomtien Beach offers a long stretch of golden sand, shaded by palm trees. Just take up a lounger and kick back. If you’re feeling fresh and ready for activity, try Naklua Bay instead, where you can hire water sports gear and zip away on the waves. How about a unique shopping trip? Take a boat ride through the city’s floating markets, where you can haggle for the daily catch and fresh, tropical produce, or just enjoy the cultural shows put on. For spiritual enlightenment, visit the Sanctuary of Truth, a soaring, wooden temple, where every pointed roof is covered with carvings of Hindu deities.

How to get to Pattaya

Pattaya is about an hour north of Utapao Airport, but for most international visitors, traveling by road from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport is a more convenient option. It’s located about 120 kilometers from central Pattaya. There are regular buses from the airport and the East Bangkok station. It’s around a 90-minute journey to Pattaya’s bus terminal. From there, taxis are available to take you to your hotel. For a hassle-free journey, you can also arrange a shuttle, either pre-arranged with your hotel, or booked at the airport, to take you direct to the door. Hiring a car is also an option.
