Tofino Hotels

Hidden among almost limitless, lush pines and rolling countryside along the Western coast of Vancouver Island, Tofino and Ucluelet are a true paradise for nature and outdoor lovers of all stripes. Soft golden beaches run in arcs across the mainland and lush islands dot the rich blue waters of the area. As a result, there's plenty of activities to enjoy, whether you prefer peaceful, relaxing walks through the sweeping hills or testing your mettle surfing the impressive waves.

Things to see

Beach lovers will want to explore the rich bronze sands of the appropriately named Long Beach sooner rather than later - the wide curving coastline offering a haven for water sports, especially surfing. There's also a lot of marine life in the area, and if you're lucky you might even catch the dark, glinting torso of a whale in the distance. The beach is expansive enough to be perfect for romantic sunset walks or secluded picnics, and comprises a part of the Pacific Rim National Reserve. The reserve itself is fantastic for hiking, exploring, and nature spotting. The tall, swaying pines that swamp the area, along with the rugged cliffs, are home to a number of animal species such as bears. Chesterman Beach is also recommended, the soft pale sands forming a sun bronzed arch along the coast – again, great for surfing, or leisurely walks along the wavy dunes.

There's also a great range of discount hotels for those wanting to spend more time outdoors than in, and you'll find affordable accommodation scattered throughout the area, many of which are located near campgrounds and other nature sites. These are a great option for affordable, fun family holidays.

Where to stay
