"Quality Priced Resort...Terrible ocean swimming"
Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 19, 2013
My wife and I stayed in a Penthouse Suite in the Select Club Adults only Section of the resort. The Suite is massive but very institutional. There are no colors or artwork on the walls which made it feel very cell like. The jacuzzi on the large deck did not work the first night. They tried to fix it but it never worked properly. The Resort is MAGNIFICENT!!! It is very beautiful and well laid out. The food in the buffet and drinks are great. The beach is very nice. Unfortunately the swimming is terrible. The ocean bed is covered in very large rocks and is very shallow. There is a large water break that is in front of the swimming area that the life guards won't let you go over to swim on the other side. Overall I would Recommend this resort if ocean swimming or snorkelling is not a requirement.

It was great, the food was very good, except for the white wine . The wi-fi is too expensive 10.00$ a day but works very well .Most places in Mexico wi-fi is free. The staff are very pleasent and helpful. I leave them a bit of tip once in a while and it is appreciated.10 or 20 pesos is not much for us but a lot to them .I will definitely go back.

We have stayed at the Royal Resort family of resorts numerous times and this stay was again all we hoped for and more. The service, the staff, etc are absolutely second to none. What also makes this resort such a pleasure is that we were never once accosted by anyone to participate in a timeshare presentation. The resort is absolutely beautiful, very well thought out and laid out. We just thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We stayed at the Gran Porto Real for 8 days and had an amazing experience. They treated us so well. Right from the time we got there until we left, the service was great. We were on a family vacation and there was stuff for the kids to do, ie: games room, daily classes (for kids and adults). The food was great, again family restaurants and then the two delicious ala carte restaurants. The staff were freindly and always ready to help in anyway they could. I like the fact that right in the hotel there were people to book you tours and help you see the sites. The beach area was really nice, clean and well maintained. And nightly entertainment for the whole family meant that you were never bored.
