Family-Friendly Broome - From Sandy Beaches to Turtle-Watching From a Kayak

Find a place to stay

Broome offers a wide range of family-oriented activities and most involve outdoors fun. The combination of warm weather, safe swimming beaches, and plentiful sand, means your kids are unlikely to get bored. More adventurous youngsters will enjoy a chance to spot whales or turtles, or to ride along the beach on a camel at sunset.

Cable Beach and camels

A highlight for many children, Cable Beach offers safe swimming, and 22 kilometers of white sand. When the tide goes out, you can hop aboard a camel for a sunset ride. If the tides are very low, the receding water sometimes exposes 130-million-year-old dinosaur footprints off Gantheaume Point. A great way to see these is to join a hovercraft tour.

Broome Camel Safaris

As the sun goes down, you can climb aboard a camel and ride along the beach for an “only in Broome” experience.

For a close - but not too close - encounter with nature, Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park is a 15-minute drive from Cable Beach. Its crocodile-feeding tours are a popular attraction. The park is also home to colourful birdlife, dingoes, kangaroos, and other creatures that call the Australian Outback home.
