Natural Wonders, Sporting Challenges, and Indulgent Pleasures on Hamilton Island
Hamilton Island's pristine, palm-lined beaches invite you stretch out on the sand and let the sunny hours go by. Resorts with all the comforts, and restaurants with fine food and water views, tempt you to indulge yourself. But you'll be missing out if you don't take advantage of all the active experiences the island has to offer, from exploring the Whitsundays by helicopter, to paddling a kayak.
Experiencing the Great Barrier Reef from Hamilton Island
Hamilton Island offers an array of ways to explore the world’s largest coral reef system. You can look down on the vivid coral shining in the turquoise water from a helicopter or seaplane. There are sailing voyages through the Whitsundays to Reefworld, where you can snorkel to your heart’s content, or take it all in from a glass-bottom boat. On the “Reefsleep Experience” you’ll watch the sun set, see the nocturnal reef come alive, then let the gentle rippling of the water lull you to sleep under the stars.

Expeditions to Whitehaven Beach from Hamilton Island
Whitehaven Beach on neighbouring Whitsunday Island is an experience you’re unlikely to forget: a 7-kilometer stretch of impossibly white sand between the ultramarine sea and virgin rainforest. A high-speed catamaran gets you there in 30 minutes, you can leisurely sail there on one of the island’s yachts, or get a bird’s-eye view from a seaplane or helicopter. Once you arrive, you can don your snorkel and get acquainted with the myriad marine life, scale the lookout at Tongue Point, or simply feel the sand between your toes and the water lapping at your ankles.

Water sports on Catseye Beach
The long curve of Catseye Beach invites you to lie back on fine sand under the swaying palms and listen to the gently rippling water. If you do feel like something more active, there are catamarans, paddle skis, paddleboards, windsurfers, and snorkeling gear for hire. Sea kayaking is a great way to get up close to tropical fish, turtles, and manta rays. If you’d like to unleash your inner skipper, there are vessels - from dinghies to luxury yachts - for charter at the marina.

The Peter Thomson-designed 18-hole course rewards them with sweeping Whitsunday views, and The Clubhouse is ideal for a lazy lunch or nineteenth-hole drinks.
