Seacaucus Hotels

One of the closest suburban towns to Manhattan; Secaucus has excellent links to New York City, making it a popular spot for commuters and families. The town is particularly famous for shopping, with people crossing the New Jersey state line to avoid sales tax on clothing, and a huge complex of malls that brings enthusiastic shoppers on day trips from Manhattan. It's also a major business center, with many companies basing their head offices here, and a huge exposition center which attracts trade fairs and major conferences.

If you want a designer look, without the eye-popping price tag, then a trip to The Secaucus Outlets will help refresh your wardrobe. A well-kept secret of the well-heeled of New York; the outlets look rather utilitarian from the outside, but once you step indoors you'll see big name international brands at huge discounts. Because there's no sales tax on clothing and shoes in New Jersey, this can save you a large percentage off your purchases. There's clothing for men, women, and children, designer jewelry and handbags, and even big name wedding dresses all at amazing prices. Within the same complex, The Mall at Millcreek focuses on popular department stores and larger shops, with toy shops, furniture stores, and affordable clothes. Nearby, The Plaza at Harmon Meadows is the best spot for grabbing a bite, with a huge selection of casual restaurants and fast food chains, most of them set around a pleasant courtyard with trees and benches. This is also the area where you'll find a large, modern cinema showing the latest releases and 3D screenings.

There's a wide selection of cheap hotels in Secaucus, with many of the well-known chains to be found in the town. This gives you an affordable nightly rate, with lots of extras such as free WiFi, complimentary parking, and buffet breakfasts to set you up for a long day of shopping. Many hotels have outdoor pools, as well as well-equipped fitness centers, laundry services, and conference centers on-site so you can get some work done. Where to stay

Secaucus is a modern and busy town, with a large highway running through the center to connect commuters to New York City. As you drive into town, the large Harmon Meadow complex is the first thing you'll see, with a selection of malls, huge out of town stores, hotels, and an exposition center. Outside of the built up areas, there are many charming suburban streets, with family homes and condo developments, and areas of neat parkland so that you can enjoy the fresh air. You'll also see undeveloped areas of meadowlands which New Jersey is famous for, with rare birds hiding in long grasses, and serene wetlands.

How to get to Seacaucus

Secaucus is just a short bus ride from New York City, with regular services from Port Authority which takes about 20 minutes. There's also an excellent commuter rail service from Secaucus Junction, with the trains taking around 15 minutes, and extra services at peak times. Newark Liberty International Airport is just 20 minutes away by road, and has regular flights arriving from across the world. The AirTrain service runs from the terminals direct to Secaucus, with the journey taking about 25 minutes. LaGuardia Airport is also a convenient arrival point, with a large number of services from across the USA and Canada. From here you can take a 25 minute drive or taxi ride, or take the bus to Roosevelt Avenue in Queens, change for Penn Station, then take the commuter train to Secaucus.
