Virginia Beach Hotels

Virginia Beach offers visitors miles of rich yellow sands and swirling ocean, and is well recognized as a great family vacation destination. Although simply lounging on the beach is the main attraction for many, there's also a huge amount of things to do, especially when it comes to the outdoors. A number of reserves and national parks are close at hand, and hiking, biking, golfing, and even dolphin spotting are all popular pastimes here, as is surfing its frothy waves.

Things to see

One of the first things you'll notice when visiting the golden beach, is the sprawling, smooth grey boardwalk that spans the entire length of the beach. In fact, Virginia Beach Boardwalk is now something of an attraction in its own right and you'll find all sorts of colorful events frequenting this local treasure. Another sight to see along the coast is the imposing grey-green Neptune Statue that coils its way around a rock, welcoming visitors to his salty, seawater domain. In the city itself, you'll find the glittering glass elegance of the Virginia Beach Convention Center, which can be a great place to simply admire when night falls when the center bursts with neon light. Of course, you can also catch one of the many events or shows often held here too.

Hotels in Virginia Beach

As you might expect, there's a lot of hotels in Virginia Beach to choose from, thanks to its popularity as a vacation spot. On the beach front itself, you'll find a very good range of accommodation, from discount hotels to fully fledged top of the pile luxury where you can expect luxurious, heated pools and spas where you'll be pampered from head to toe. You'll also find that most hotels operate a free internet policy in public spaces, and many also offer complimentary parking and child friendly facilities to cater to families.

Where to stay

If you're looking for a pure beach holiday, then finding accommodation along Pacific Avenue and the seafront will be the best choice, as you'll be mere moments from the glistening ocean and rolling sands of the beach, and all of the associated attractions located there. That said, outdoors enthusiasts or families looking for a wide range of activities might prefer heading towards the vicinity of Lake Holly, as you'll still be able to get to the beach easily, but also have quick access to the lake and other activities. Business travelers can also find convenient places near the convention center.

How to get to Virginia Beach

Norfolk International Airport is the nearest to Virginia Beach, but international travelers can also consider Washington and Boston as arrival points, as you can get train and bus services from both cities to Virginia Beach. It can be useful to rent a car however, either from the airport or once you arrive, as apart from the beach itself, which you can walk to from accommodation generally, there's no metro system. Buses are available though, and are a very affordable, though slightly less convenient way to get to the sights and around the city in general.
