Hamilton Hotels

Surrounded by endless miles of rolling green hills, and in the shadow of imposing, snow-topped mountains, Hamilton is a small, charming city built in the late 19th century. The Blackfoot River that runs to the west was immortalized in the novel, and later the movie, A River Runs Through It, and the sweeping, epic landscape is the ideal background for outdoor fun.

Things to see

As you wander around the well-manicured gardens of the Daly Mansion, or take a tour of its intricately designed exterior, you can learn all about the life of Marcus Daly, who worked his way up from a working class immigrant, to a wealthy industrialist in the 19th century. The money he made from copper has been well invested into building the impressive, marble-columned home, as well as blooming botanical gardens, and an arboretum where you’ll often see couples taking wedding vows under the shade of a towering tree. Just west of Hamilton lies the Hieronymus Park & Trail, a popular spot for bird-watching, where you glimpse a Bald Eagle perched along the riverfront. You can hike along the lush green wetlands, with spectacular views of the mountains in the distance, and the loop trail brings you back safely with minimal navigation needed.

Bookshops and boutiques sit alongside restaurants and cozy cafes, with friendly, old-fashioned service on offer. As you head out west, you’ll pass over the Blackfoot River, which is a great area to stay for fly-fishing, canoeing, or simply laying back in an inner tube and watching the world float by.
