Brockville Hotels

Also known as 'The City of The Thousand Islands', Brockville has developed into a popular tourist destination from its original colonial roots. The city hugs the banks of the vast, glassy St Lawrence River, which is also home to a huge variety of small islands that are easily accessible from Brockville. As a result, there's plenty of boat trips and scenic river cruises to enjoy, but you'll find loads to do on land to keep you busy, too.

Things to see

While the sprawling, crystal waters of the river are certainly one of the main attractions here, there's certainly more than enough to please any visitor. That said, if it's your first time in the city, taking a lazy cruise along the river and around the many lush islands that give the region its name is a must. Shopaholics will certainly want to visit the 1000 Islands Mall, where you'll find a great selection of well-known and local brands, making it the perfect place to pick up some fruity wine and a few snacks for a walk by the waterfront. Brockville has its fair share of history too, being home to Canada's first ever railway tunnel. You can wander through the eerily dark tunnel and learn more about how it was made. Additionally, the Brockville History Museum is worth a look if you want more in depth history about the local area.

Hotels in Brockville

Brockville offers a good selection of hotels for its size. You can find discount hotels if you're simply jetting through on a business trip, but there's also plush river front accommodation available that's perfect for couples or families. Hotels in Brockville also tend to offer free parking, free wireless internet access in public spaces, and a complimentary buffets breakfast. You'll also find warm, glittering pools at some locations, and on-site fitness centers too, which is great for staying in shape during your break.

Where to stay

Families or visitors that want a central location should head for the central Stewart Boulevard area, which is not only close to a number of peaceful parks and green spaces, but also within walking distance of the main shopping areas, including the 1000 Islands Mall. Business travelers, or those visiting on a budget can still benefit from easy access to the same areas of the city by staying along Kent Boulevard, and there's plenty of lush green spaces right on the doorstep here, too. If you're after a peaceful romantic getaway with stunning views of the glittering evening river, then Broad Street accommodation offers excellent views of the waterside.

How to get to Brockville

Being the home of Canada's first railway tunnel does have its advantages, and Brockville is well connected via train services to Montreal, Toronto, and Ottawa, which gives both domestic and international visitors plenty of options. Ottawa or Montreal are the closest travel hubs, so flying into either of these locations before hopping on a train to Brockville is always a reliable choice. The city itself is not so large that walking is out of the question, and there are plenty of parks to enjoy too. Public transport buses are available though, as well as frequent cab services.
