Belleville Hotels

Located along the main route between Toronto and Montreal, Belleville is a picturesque little town on the Bay of Quinte, which spills out into Lake Ontario. Benefitting from milder year-round temperatures than other places in the region, it makes a pleasant retreat. The lake is one of the main attractions, offering a multitude of watersports. In addition, there are nature reserves and parks to explore. Belleville’s compact and attractive city center has several historic buildings, museums, and shops.

Things to see

In the city center, admire the austerely elegant city hall, a red-brick building with a tall clock tower. Close by, you’ll find local shops, some selling local crafts and produce. Local markets sometimes take place in the center of town, drawing a crowd. Amateur historians should pay a visit to the Belleville Area Museum, located on Main Street. The exhibits include miniature replicas of buildings from the 19th century and other artifacts from the period. If you want to try Canada’s national sport, head to the Yardmen Arena, which has an indoor ice rink. Otherwise, there are plenty of activities available on Lake Ontario. At several points close to the Bay of Quinte, it’s possible to hire kayaks and boats - take a gentle trip on a sailing boat, or zoom away on a jet ski. In the winter, depending on snowfall, you can also try cross-country skiing in the area.
