Delta Hotels

Although it’s less than half an hour from central Vancouver, Delta is a quiet and pleasant area with broad, flat landscapes and plenty of nature reserves. Situated on the banks of the rippling Fraser River, it’s a busy industrial hub, as well as being the home of many commuters who want to live in a peaceful community that’s close to the big city action.

Things to see

The Delta Chamber of Commerce takes care of the business community, and if you’re looking to trade in the area, they have plenty of information for budding entrepreneurs. There’s also a visitor’s center for those who are vacationing in the area, and the friendly staff will be happy to help you find attractions to suit your group. One trip that’s always recommended for outdoorsy types is the Boundary Bay Regional Park, wide open lakeside scenery, rugged areas of beach with lush sand dunes, and opportunities to see impressive, rare birds. The Wellbrook Winery is a rustic, turn-of-the-century wine-making facility that still uses many of the old methods to create a wide range of fine wines. You can enjoy a stroll around the lush, sprawling vineyards before joining in with a wine or juice tasting, and pick up local and handmade produce from the well-stocked farm store.

Many hotels will also let you request extras such as microwaves, refrigerators, rollaway beds, and extra towels if needed.

Where to stay

Delta is mostly made up of sprawling flatlands, with plenty of space for the pleasant suburban homes dotted around the area. Along the Fraser River you’ll find many industrial buildings and warehouses, and in the eastern part of the city you’ll find strip malls, casual restaurants, and a sprawling golf course.

Boundary Bay Airport is based in the south of Delta, with small aircraft and corporate jets landing here regularly. The nearest major airport is Vancouver International, less than half an hour drive from Delta, and there are several car rental desks in the terminal.
