Take a stroll through the compact city center to see the historic buildings of the old town section, and visit the Plainsman Arena in Jensen Park, where a Farmer’s Market is often held. This thriving part of Airdrie life attracts crowds of locals who come to purchase the fresh produce, sweet treats, and handmade crafts. If you have a sweet tooth, be sure to try the melt-in-the-mouth handmade fudge. Then take a trip to Iron Horse Park, a trail through part of Canada’s heritage railway route. Nowadays, miniature steam trains transport visitors across a section of the pioneer route – great fun for children. To the south of the town, Nose Creek Valley provides an outdoor area for picnics and walks on the banks of the Airdrie pond, and the Nose Creek Valley Museum offers an insight into the history of this part of Canada with artifacts, historic photos, and information.
