Panorama Ski Area, BC Hotels

The orange-hued pine-clad architecture of the Panorama Ski Area and accompanying resort is the very definition of a winter wonderland. The jagged, icy peaks of the Purcell mountain range also hide fantastic powdery slopes, and one of the largest ski-able drops in the world – a challenge reserved for only the boldest skiers. Those that prefer a club in their hands over a ski pole, or simply a change of pace, can enjoy the crisp air at the nearby golf course.

Things to see

There's plenty to do in the picturesque surroundings of the village itself, before you even get to the slopes. The quaint, snow-dusted streets of the resort are lined with cafés, shops, and places to eat, and you can find everything from steaming, cheese loaded pizzas to indulgent a la carte restaurants. The selection of pubs and bars also makes the village the perfect staging ground for trips up the mountain with friends. The main attraction of course, are the soft white slopes themselves. There's plenty of lift access, with a high speed service that can ferry you up to 1200 feet. While slaloming your way down the slopes is certainly thrilling, there are plenty of twists on offer here too. You can enjoy a flood-lit night ski for example, or even unleash the daredevil inside by trying out some heliskiing. If you need a more calming pace after leaping from a helicopter, then the nearby Greywolf Golf Course is just the thing.

Hotels in Panorama Ski Area, BC

As you might expect, most hotels in the Panorama Ski Area offer specialist services such as ski-in/ski-out access, as well as lessons and equipment, which is handy if you're a beginner or want to teach the kids how to ski. You'll also find another staple of Panama Ski Area hotels is the sauna and pool facilities, which are found at almost all accommodation locations here. Taking a steaming soak after an exciting day on the mountain is the perfect way to end the day, and with the free WiFi on offer in lobby areas, you can keep in touch with the outside world.

Where to stay

The village is fairly compact, so choosing where to stay won't have a major effect on convenience. That said, if you simply have to be the first on the slopes and the last off, staying along Summit Drive will put you right at the base of the impressive mountains, right next to the lifts. Panorama Drive offers a little more seclusion, whilst still being close to the main village and the mountain, so can be a great choice for couples looking for a little romance. Finally, staying in the village center itself will place you right in the heart of the action, making it a good family choice.

How to get to Panorama Ski Area, BC

Although the Canadian Rockies International Airport is the closest choice, it is often more convenient to fly into Calgary International Airport, mainly due to the fact that the Ski Area offers airport transfer services during winter from this location straight to Panorama. Car hire is also a possibility, as the roads are well looked after all year round, so can be worth the trip even in winter thanks to the breathtaking views on offer. Walking (or skiing) around Panorama is perfectly viable, with plenty of lifts to get you up and down the mountain. There's also a bus shuttle service to nearby Invermere.
