How to get to Jaco

Jacó is just a couple of hours from San José's Juan Santamaria International Airport, with flights arriving from across North and South America, as well as around the world. Many visitors pick up a rental car and drive themselves, with most of the 2 hour journey on highways. If you don't want to drive, then you can often negotiate a reasonable fare in advance with taxi drivers, or book a private shuttle. Those who can speak a little Spanish and want a budget option can take one of the public buses that run from outside the airport. The journey takes about 3 hours because of the stops, and there are no bathrooms or air conditioning facilities onboard, so it can be uncomfortable, if a bargain.
