A breath of fresh air in Eastern Ontario, Perth is small but perfectly formed, with a mix of historical buildings, wholesome outdoor adventures, and family leisure activities. Located between lakes, where the Rideau River meets the Tay, water-based excursions are popular, and the fishing is particularly renowned. If you’re a fan of shopping in markets and artisanal workshops, then the City Center of Perth is a great place to pick up some treasures. For a taste of Perth heritage, head to the elegant Perth Museum, inside a restored manor house. As well as period rooms authentically furnished, there are quirky exhibits, such as a very old piece of cheese, saved from the Mammoth Cheese, produced in 1893 for an agricultural exposition. Nearby Stewart Park offers an idyllic day out, with acres of green space bordering the gently meandering Tay River. For more of an adrenaline rush, you can head further out to hit the hills or the river for outdoor sports of every variety.
