Wasaga Beach Hotels

A popular resort destination, the pure white sands of Wasaga Beach stretch off into crystal clear, glittering waters. The area is home to the largest stretch of freshwater beach in the world in fact, and visitors flock to bathe and bob in the calming currents. In addition to the beach, there’s also a vibrant town to be found that's dripping with places to eat fresh catches of the day or savor indulgent deserts. Come winter, there's also skiing to be had.

Things to see

The main attraction here is Wasaga Beach Provincial Park, where you'll find the soft, white sanded beaches bustling with families, sunbathers, and swimmers. The park also incorporates a number of other activities and attractions however, and you can easily lose a day to a lazy hike, picnic, or lounging in the shimmering warm waters of the coast. If you're interested in the region's history, or are on holiday with the kids, then a visit to the Nancy Island Historical Site, which houses the remains of a 19th century British Schooner is a must. The building itself is a tribute to the wide, angular white sails of the ship, and kid and adults alike will find mush to enjoy within. A day trip to Tower Island to meander around the lush environment and take in the sweeping views and elegant lighthouse that stands dutifully facing out to the sea shouldn't be missed.

Although a very popular destination, Wasaga Beach hotel rates are surprisingly affordable, and whatever your budget, there's usually something to suit your needs. A number of Wasaga Beach hotels offer the full resort experience, where you can enjoy access to pristine golf courses, bubbling spas, and glimmering heated pools. If you're in the area on business, then onsite parking is free at many hotels, and WiFi is also complimentary in the public spaces of most of the hotels here. Due to the family-friendly nature of Wasaga Beach, kids'll be well catered for too.

Where to stay

If the historic attractions in the area are the main point of interest for you, and you also want quick access to the beaches, then staying in the top end of the Mosley Street area is a good choice, as both Nancy and Tower Island are very close. Heading further along the coast can be a better choice if you plan on spending a lot of time in the Provincial Park, especially on family holidays, as you won't have far to travel at all. Alternatively, if you're looking for camping and activities further out, then head to Beachwood Grove.

How to get to Wasaga Beach

The nearest international airport is Toronto, so flying in here, then catching either the Greyhound bus, or hiring a car and following highway 400 north will get you to Wasaga Beach in around 1 hour and 30 minutes. You can also use this to your advantage and visit Toronto for a day trip too. In Wasaga itself, locals generally hop in taxis to get around, although if you're planning on spending a lot of time on the beach, or in the Provincial Park, simply walking or cycling will be all you really need.
