Kapuskasing is small town Canada at its finest, with a quaint downtown area, a landscape covered in evergreens, and a peaceful waterfront area. This old industrial town was built around its railroad, and also became notorious as the site of an internment camp in WWI. Today, not much remains of the site, although tourists still visit to see the cemetery and learn about the fascinating history of Kapuskasing, as well as exploring the natural beauty that surrounds the town.

The Ron Morel Memorial Museum is full of exhibits about the local area, from a unique exhibition of clay sculptures that tell Kapuskasing's history, through to the section about the former internment camp which housed recent immigrants during WWI. Kapuskasing is extremely proud of its railway heritage, and at the museum you can step on board one of the beautifully preserved passenger carriages, learning the history of how the railways were built, and their role in creating the town. Kapuskasing Golf Club is nestled amongst dense green forests, with 9 challenging holes, many of which have water hazards. This friendly course is suitable for all sorts of ability levels, with a pro shop onsite and professional lessons to help you reach your goals. Rene Brunelle Provincial Park is just outside of town, with large areas of forest and small sandy beaches to be found on the lakeshore. Fishing is a popular pastime here, with an abundance of pike and bass waiting to bite, plus there are 2 major hiking trails, canoe and kayak rentals, and the chance to spot birds and wildlife hiding amongst the trees.
