London Hotels

London sits close to the Canada and USA border, and like its namesake city in England, it has a rich history. You'll still see a lot of the 19th century architecture, although a lot of London is modern and sleek, with high rise buildings and a thriving economy. The city has plenty of green spaces such as urban parks, as well as its very own River Thames, and the suburbs have a selection of vineyards where a wide variety of grapes enjoy the pleasant climate.

Things to see

The White Oaks Mall is a sprawling shopping center with several department stores, big brand shops, and lots of local and international favorites. You'll find a wide selection of cafés and fast food spots, and the mall often has events such as large sales that bring in eager crowds. If you want to enjoy one of Canada's favorite pastimes, then look no further than Budweiser Gardens which hosts thrilling ice hockey games, where you can enjoy the roar of the crowd and clashes between rival teams. The stadium is also converted into a basketball court for the local Lightning London team, a venue for rock and pop, and even a space for musicals and family friendly shows. The Jonathon Bancroft-Snell Gallery celebrates the medium of ceramics, with one of the largest collections in Canada. You'll find an eclectic selection of works from around the world, from challenging modern pieces, to classic designs. The rustic Bellamere Winery has a limited selection of high quality wines, and you can wander the lush vineyards to see the grapes being grown. Once you've learnt how the wine is made, you'll be able to sample traditional and fruit wines, from a Merlot to a cranberry blend.

Where to stay

Downtown London is busy and built up, with high rise office blocks and areas such as the Citi Plaza offering a combination of shops, business spaces, and casual restaurants. At the heart of downtown is the Victoria Park area, which offers 18 acres of green space, surrounded by some of the city's oldest buildings such as the grand St. Peter's Cathedral. Just outside the park you'll find streets with charming cafés, boutiques, and Victorian homes that have been perfectly preserved.
