"Lovely old heritage hotel - could do with a bit of an update, but would rather spend less and have less flashiness. Such incredibly good value - for a central location, metres / feet from the subway - heated pool and steam room, large rooms with separate dining nook and bar fridge, basic breakfast buffet included; the usual WiFi, TV and AC - and excellent service. This will be my go-to for future trips to Rio."

"Good location - close to Lapa, Gloria and Cinelândia. You can walk to Flamengo beach and Gloria Marina for a boat ride. The rooms are basic but comfortable and the shower is hot with excellent water pressure. The breakfast is good. "

"Lovely stay in Botafogo. Larissa at the front desk was very helpful, as was all of the staff. We were lucky to have a corner room with a gorgeous view of the bay and Sugar Loaf. You can see Christ from the rooftop, which has a bar and food and a pool. Easy to Uber anywhere from here. There are Nespresso machines in the rooms with a charge per pod. We would stay here again!"

"This is an excellent hotel. The locality is excellent some lovely restaurants and vibrant bars. I had some concerns regarding the safety but I was pleasantly surprised. The obvious measures to prevent theft and mugging is more than sufficient. The spa was a relaxing experience. If you can make it to the Yoga session in Saturday morning, I would recommend it"

"It was ok, it’s a historic hotel, with some small problems, but is clean, with confort, with a simple but ok brakfast and people with nice behaviour. The location is good, with metro station at door and a beautiful Museum and Park in front."

"A real gem of a hotel. Lovely spacious rooms off the beating track but so easy to walk to key venues, catch tram and train or taxi called for by wonderful reception. Staff so helpful and friendly. Highly recommend a stay if visiting Rio…. I don’t think I would have been as adventurous if staying in the busy parts of town "
