Holiday Suites Port Barton
6/10 Okay
"The hotel advertises soundproof rooms and that was one of the major draws for us to this hotel. However, no matter how soundproof the walls might be, the soundproofing is only as good as it’s weakest area. That weak area is the door. There is a large enough gap between the floor and the door that we could hear everything—the off-key karaoke going on until late into the night somewhere nearby, the roosters starting up at 4am and not stopping their constant cockadoodledooing even by 11 when we checked out.
We also learned that the WiFi in the rooms wasn’t working and wasn’t going to be fixed anytime soon and that there was no cellphone reception in our room.
The hot water on demand system that they have only works with a certain amount of pressure of water but the amount of pressure changes throughout the day. We finally found we could get hot water if we turned on the faucet and the shower at the same time, but it meant that the shower was weak.
The street outside of the hotel is very muddy and very hard to walk on when it rains so avoid staying there during the rainy season. We got our car so muddy on that street that we had to pay a fee when we returned it.
There’s no view for any of the rooms (despite what is written on information) except of other peoples small porch and bedroom curtains. But the view from the dining area is excellent and the staff were very nice."
"Perfect stay in port barton! Great location as a 2 minute walk from the beach. The family who host are lovely, we took the boat trip with benjie and had an amazing day. The breakfast was super delicious and the water filter was great. Highly recommend!"
Summer Homes Beach Front Resort and Cottages Port Barton
10/10 Excellent
"Port Barton as a whole is fairly primitive and undeveloped. With that in mind, Summer Homes is great. Free hot breakfast included with a wide range of offerings. You literally walk onto the beach directly from the property. The negatives are that right now due to this stupid war, electricity is limited. The hotel does have a generator but you can’t run aircon when on generator. The staff is very attentive and helpful. I recommend it."
"We came from Puerto Princesa and are now in El Nido. The hotels in both of these places (for the same money!) are outstanding which made us realise HOW BAD this one was. We stayed for 2 nights and during this time we had no hot water or the housekeeping done. Appreciate Port Barton has more of a rustic charm so the price should reflect it. This was nothing more than an old outdated static caravan. Breakfast was terrible. Another table were complaining about a 70 minute delay despite ordering the night before. We didn’t have anything day 2 and were pleased to get out of there. "
"The bungalow style cabin was great, I loved the decking and the chairs. The bed was very comfortable and big. The staff were lovely and helpful
Downside was the smell coming from the bathroom. It was pretty intense. It seemed to go away once the shower had been used. There was also a power cut which is fine. Just a shame the wifi never came back on for the duration of our stay.
