London Hotels

England’s bustling capital has it all. From iconic landmarks like Buckingham Palace and Big Ben, to its world-class museums, gilded theaters, and cultural attractions that lure visitors from all over the world. Lux label boutiques pamper to the most fashionable of fashionistas, whilst the city’s culinary credentials are enough to leave any foodie in awe. After hours, London pulls no punches either. From good ol’ English boozers and cool-as-ice music venues, to some of the world’s most exclusive clubs – like everything in London, all tastes are covered.

Things to see

Brimming with camera-wielding tourists, Trafalgar Square is one of London’s most visited sites. Its centerpiece is the 170 foot tall Nelson’s Column, guarded by 4 imposing lion statues, and flanked by 2 spraying fountains. On the square’s north side is the stately National Gallery, which features more than 2,300 paintings from the 13th century onwards. At a mile and a half long, Oxford Street is the city’s main commercial artery. Crawling with pedestrians and packed with hundreds of major stores, even the hardiest of shopaholics will find their fix. If that leaves you needing some respite, then take some time out in Hyde Park. Spanning 625 acres, the green and leafy oasis is perfect for enjoying a picnic, before feeding the ducks on the Serpentine Lake. Lastly, no visit to London would be complete without gawping at the neoclassical splendor of Buckingham Palace, from behind its fancy gilded gates.

Hotels in London

If money is no object, you’ll have your pick of some of the world’s ritziest hotels - whether you prefer afternoon tea beneath a twinkling chandelier, or state-of-the-art amenities in a strikingly modern high rise tower. You can expect all the 5-star trappings, from pampering service and plush suites, to Michelin starred restaurants and swanky bars on-site. The more modest hotels in London have a lot to offer too, with central locations, well-equipped amenities, and plenty of in-room creature comforts. For those looking for a thriftier stay, there’s plenty of B&Bs and cheap hotels in London, though they may keep you a little out of the loop location-wise.

Where to stay

Sightseeing is an inevitable priority for most visitors, so basing yourself as centrally as possible should be too. Those with sizable budgets can live it up in the West End, where you’ll be right in amongst the glitz and glam of London’s theater and nightlife scenes. The covered market of Covent Garden is there too, whilst Oxford Street is just a short jaunt away. Bayswater is an attractive leafy district bordering Hyde Park. Home to plenty of budget-friendly digs, it conveniently puts you around 20 minutes away from most major sites via the Underground. Set beside the West End, Victoria is similarly ideal for sightseers, with mid-range accommodation, and close to Buckingham Palace.

How to get to London

London is served by no less than 6 airports. As the UK’s biggest and busiest airport however, London Heathrow Airport is the preferable gateway for most. As well as direct flights to destinations all over the world, it offers superb rail links into London itself, allowing travelers to hit the city center within an hour of landing. Gatwick Airport is similarly well-connected, with good links into the city, whilst London City Airport serves fewer destinations but allows you to land around 7 miles east of the city’s core. European visitors can also opt to arrive by train at St Pancras station, conveniently situated in central London.
