The sprawling neon-lit cityscape of Kowloon hides all manner of culinary and cultural delights along its twisty-turny, vibrant streets. The ever bustling city is one of the most densely populated spaces in the world, and there's a wealth of succulent street food and off the beaten track restaurants to discover. The city is also famous for its sweeping views of Hong Kong, and spectacular waterfront where ferries bob up and down in the water, not to mention the world-class shopping available at the glitzy glass-roofed luxury malls.

Things to see

First time visitors to the city should pay at least one visit to the Kowloon waterfront. The views of the shimmering glass towers of Hong Kong and the inland bay area make the perfect backdrop for a relaxing walk. The area is without doubt at its best by night, where the glittering lights of the city make for some truly stunning views, and you can also catch the colorful symphony of light at 8pm every evening and see the sky and skyscrapers lit by purple, blue, red and yellow beams. Museum fans, especially science and technology enthusiasts, will be right at home here too. There's a number of fascinating sights to see and discover at the Hong Kong Science Museum, and the kids in particular are sure to enjoy a visit here. If you're looking for some of the local history and culture, then the bright and bold colors of the Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple are a must see.
