What you need to know before you go
Philadelphia is perhaps most famous for Independence Hall, where America’s Founding Fathers made history as they agreed the Declaration of Independence on 4th July, 1776. For a full history lesson, grab the PHLASH bus to tour the Independence National Historical Park, which stretches from 2nd to 7th Street.
Philadelphia is also the home of gastronomical inventions such as the cheesesteak, hoagie, and soft pretzel. For an authentic taste, try one of the city’s famous markets such as the Reading Terminal Market, where over 100 traders offer tantalizing treats. For a more European influence, try the Italian Market on 9th Street.
