Shoddy and Ugly. Will Never Stay Here Again.
Got a really cheap rate here. Got what I paid for. Billed as a 4-star hotel but it most definitely is not. Tiny, poorly-laid out rooms, even by London standards. The bathroom is so small and awkward it is practically unusable. The bathtub was awkwardly installed a good step and a half above the floor, making getting in and out somewhat dangerous. The decor of the rooms is hideous as well, looking like it was last updated in the 1990s at the latest. The mattress was of sub-dorm-room quality and the towels were threadbare and abrasive. The staff were cordial and tried hard, but they seemed to be aware of (and resigned to) the reality of the hotel where they were working. A great, small example that really epitomizes the overall run-down, shoddy nature of the Melia White House was our TV. It worked fine at first. Gradually we began receiving fewer and fewer channels clearly. I discovered that the TV cable was coming loose because it there was no screw-in connector connecting the cable to the wall. Eventually the TV stopped working completely and I discovered that the cable had come completely out of the wall, leaving only the center wire of the coaxial cable sticking out of the wall, making it impossible to reconnect. We reported it to the front desk. When we got back to our room after being away for a few hours, the cable had been reconnected. With masking tape. Well-meaning effort undone by the underlying shoddy nature of the place. Avoid.

Poor 2.0
Over priced for size and condition of rooms
One of the worst hotel stays I ever had. Room was way too small, can hardly move inside the room or bathroom without banging into something. All the furniture needs to be replaced asap (other than the tv). Bed was too large for the room but the springs in the mattress were deformed so not comfortable. WIFI was very choppy so kept cutting out. I can go on and on. The good side was the location is great and they have renovated the lobby which is nice but total fail as an over all experience and value for money. Would never stay in this property again and probably never in this brand.

Good 6.0
Outdated rooms, solid location
Room reeked like cigarettes and was quite small and outdated decor. Reminded me of an old cruise ship. They did move us to a fresh smelling room, thankfully. Rooms are small and earplugs and eyeshades recommended if you are a light sleeper. Service was very nice. Location is great, easy to get around. If you aren't spending much time there, it's fine for a good price.
