    Profile: Capitol Hill

    Profile: Capitol Hill

Capitol Hill, central D.C.’s largest residential district, is at the heart of both the city and the nation’s political life. But this eclectic neighborhood isn’t all about politics. There’s a great community spirit with a wealth of farmers markets, flea markets, and street fairs. Foodies can shuck oysters with locals at one of the many lively restaurants along Barracks Row near Eastern Market.

Those with a taste for the theatrical will enjoy a visit to the Folger Shakespeare Library, whose wood-paneled walls are steeped in literary history. Take in a Shakespeare-inspired play at the library’s beautiful little Elizabethan Theatre.

I didn't require my room to be cleaned daily, and the days that it wasn't, I receieved a phone call to ask if there was anything I needed or was running out of...I thought that was great!

Due to some unavoidable circumstances traffic on the way and Unsafe travel in the evening with kids being heavy rain.. I was not able to travel from New York to Washington DC I called Hyatt to cancel my reservation or to transfer my hotel stay from Washington DC to New Jersey as kids were also with me but they did not give me any option for hotel stay New Jersey and they just refunded one hotel expense and kept the other which make me lose dollar 197. For a future I will never opt Hyatt as my hotel to stay anywhere

Great location, super close to Union Station and National Mall bus circuit stop. Try not to follow Google directions that take you to Judiciary Station it's not actually faster and you walk through some questionable, very quiet areas. Much better and easier to go to Union. Room was great and lots of convenience amenities (including a humidifier, which I've never had at hotels) and credits to use at or around hotel. The Market shop downstairs was very convenient for tea and light snacks. However, as with most DC buildings there's no "city view" and you can't see the Capitol from most rooms. Also, if you ever have to line up at front desk but don't see anyone on the "regular" side, you have to take the initiative to go to the World of Hyatt line. The World of Hyatt reception desk will not bother to offer help. This happened to us twice.

It's in a part of torn that has honors shelters so walking home from Capitol Hill at night was a little intimidating/sketchy. During the day it was fine... Nice and close to Union station and to the top of everything but definitely an older Hyatt. Amenities and such were nice. Pool was cold, but probably meant as a lap pool but none the less it was hard to stay in it for longer periods of time.

Likes: very nice staff, smooth check-in and check-out, nearby Union Station, National Mall, and the free bus (Circulator) that took us to National Mall Dislikes: not enough counter space in the hotel bathroom, not enough towels for 3 guests

Great location to Capitol Hill. Room was nice but on the smaller side. The thing that I didn’t like was that the lobby had this off putting smell. I don’t know if it’s because the restaurant is open to the lobby or what, but they should put an air purifier or air freshener to make the lobby smell better.
