Profile: Financial District

Profile: Financial District

The Financial district is quiet after 5 pm and on the weekends, when it’s been left to its own devices and the shadows of the skyscrapers crawl across the sleepy sidewalks, but during the week it’s packed with food trucks, kiosks, and restaurants catering to power-lunchers. Tadich Grill is California’s oldest restaurant, a popular venue slinging seafood with no reservations needed.

Discerning shoppers should check out the upmarket Crocker Galleria, while comedy lovers can laugh themselves hoarse at the Punch Line Comedy Club, which has hosted Robin Williams and Chris Rock.

    Great stay

Excellent stay in a good location. We had a loud neighbour in the next room, and were moved on request with no hassle or issues. Would recommend! Nly wish the room service was made to order rather than reheating their takeaway food

The room was initially musty smelling requiring a visit from the cleaning staff. Washroom is tiny with 2 individuals finding it difficult to be in there at the same time. Vent fans were clogged with dust in the main area. A constant hum was coming from the wall/ceiling between the bed and bathroom. Atrium lobby is nice with lounge food and drinks quite nice in a absolutely beautiful lobby backdrop. Close to Ferry Building and many restaurants is a bonus. Hotel staff are friendly and attentive. Market staff could be better in their service if they paid more attention to details like updating customers on wait times for food and keeping condiments stocked.

Loved the location. Close to financial district but by the water to walk to pier 39 as well. The bart was very easy to take from the airport to the hotel with the bart station right on the property. Lower overall as we were there a number of nights and had a small window balcony compared to other rooms we saw.

    A lovely hotel!

The hotel is architectuarlly great, but it is very bland looking inside. The room itself was excellent, with a beautiful view of the bay. The room was very clean and very comfortable. The hotel restaurant was somewhat limited in menu choices, but there are many great restaurants within easy walking distance. Watch out for weekends, though, as the hotel is in the financial district, and many restaurants are closed on the weekend. It was a great place from which to explore the city as there are streetcar, cablecar, and tour bus stops right outside the hotel. The waterfront is just across the Embarcadero from the hotel, and Fishermans Wharf is a long walk or short streetcar ride down the road. Get a Clipper day pass and you can fine all over town on the Muni.

Location is good. There’s a serious homeless problem and every night and morning there were people aggressively fighting near the hotel. It made me feel really unsafe. The parking was awful and when we departed the elevator was broken, so we had to walk down the car path which was extremely sketchy in the dark. We enjoyed our balcony view of the harbour and there are plenty of restaurants near by.

Room was very so-so. Easily forgettable. Didn’t make or break our trip. Worked as a place to sleep but we didn’t want to spend more time there than we needed to.
