Comfortable and Convenient
Our stay was just an overnight, and the Carpenter was convenient for our activities. Everything was fine, however I discovered that their in-room coffee service had no creamer or sugar; I was told at the front desk that they did not provide those items in the room and sent me to the coffee bar. If you prefer cream and sugar in your coffee bring your own. Other than that it was a nice stay.

Great stay! Uniquely austin experience
Such a special hotel. Great location, nice vibe, and the special-made toiletries and robes make the experience memorable and unique. Not a cookie cutter hotel. Would stay again - and again. (Also don’t miss casa de luz next door for healthy macrobiotic foods and a dash of serenity)

Excellent property
Great location near several tasty restaurants (including the hotel restaurant; we had a fantastic dinner here); on-site, easy in/out parking; large private balcony; great vibe; eclectic, interesting architecture and decor. My only complaint would be the mattress, felt a bit like sleeping on a futon bed.

Very nice hotel with a nice vibe...restaurant had very limited choice and a bit overpriced...but could be because it was the 25th December!

Winter stay at the Carpenter
Loved this hotel! Wasn’t sure from other reviews if it would be too noisy and industrial (concrete floors). The hotel is uniquely designed, not luxury, but authentic and modern. We loved how it was modern, yet felt cozy ( bed is super comfy bed, put over coffee in the room, our own balcony) For us it was perfect.

Good 6.0
Really disappointed.
The hotel staff is polite enough (although they could use a refresher course in being friendly and welcoming). The coffee bar staff (inside the hotel) is downright rude, and we weren't the only ones to notice or comment and this was on two different days, with different staff. The first day, I asked where check-in was. The woman told me it was to the right. My husband was outside waiting so I went out to tell him where we should go in. As I was leaving, the woman starting YELLING (and I was a foot from her), "I said it was to the right, not outside." The street noise in the room is VERY loud (heavy objects inside the room rattle whenever a car goes by on the street). It is also very cold. There is a giant blackout door (like a pocket door) that you pull out on rollers to cover the windows). Even with that closed it was still noisy and making it worse, the door itself rattled. If my husband hadn't been with me, there would've been no way I could have opened or closed it. It was too heavy and the wheels would stick. I would also say it is VERY, VERY overpriced.
