Great location, rooms a bit tired
A bit disappointed as hotel was a bit "tired". In addition, there were many things that, for the price, were on the cheap side. For example, every towel left was very thin and only left one per person. We had to ask for wine glasses, coffee mugs (they provide cardboard ones) and there was only one chair in room. We had to ask for a second one. The staff were very polite and accommodating though. The location cannot be beat!

Building works! Beware!
There are extensive building works going on now by Le Meridien which share the same building as Mercure. I asked to move out of our seaview room because the drilling was right underneath us. They moved us to another mercure hotel which is newer looking but not equivalent. This completely spoiled my wife's birthday holiday that I planned so meticulously. We spent Day 2 repacking and shifting to another hotel. For us, it was essentially a wasted holiday even on Day 2 and we had 4 more nights to go. It wasn't the holiday I planned. The staff at both Mercure Hotels were kind- thank you. Le Meridien has works on the entre 2nd floor and 8th and 9th floor. Mercure shares up to the 3rd floor of the same building so there is no escape from the noise and reverberations. I walked across to Le Meridien to find out about their building schedule myself. Hotels.com - you need to do better for your customers! It isn't fair for us, the customers, to find out this way. Money and effort down the drain for me.
