Honest review - don’t book
For the price you’re paying, this place is more like a 3.5 star hotel. The front desk employees are not welcoming and helpful, the rooms and bathrooms are outdated, the hotel floors are not secured (i.e. you don’t need a room key to use the elevators), and there is an undisclosed “urban experience fee” of $20usd per night. This fee covers the following: - Basic High Speed Internet ... (most hotels have free wifi) - Local and Domestic long distance calls ... (we all have cell phones) - Fitness centre ... (again most hotels give gym access for free) - Dry cleaning* - Nightly shoe shine* - Complimentary Coffee and tea in the lobby from 5am to 6am ... (I think most people on vacation are asleep at this time) - Complimentary smoothie from 6 to 10am and 4-8pm - 10% off private transportation ... (everything is walking distance) Basically, most of these things are usually free at other hotels and/or you probably won’t use especially if you’re here to explore the city. The only good thing is that everything is walking distance... but the Hyatt next door also covers that. Thank you and never again.

Only one person for check in and was also on the phone. Eventually another employee came out and took somebody else instead of us next in line. It took about 20 minutes. Had to ask for blanket as only thin sheet on top of regular sheet.

Good conference hotel - uneven experience
My experience didn't start well because of a slow check-in process and an issue with the UPS office being closed on Sunday afternoon (which meant I couldn't get the booth I had to set up). However the room was very spacious and comfortable and the rest of the stay went very well (including good food while on the conference floor). I had a couple of meals at the Palm where the staff was excellent and the food was delicious but overpriced.

We stayed November 14th to November 16. The room was okay, but needs updating in bathroom. Our television didn't work the first night so called to have fixed in the morning. The service for repair was quick, however delayed our time to leave for the day. When we returned after a long day, the television didn't work again. Repair guy came again and eventually replaced for us. We also had a problem with fridge as didn't work and spoiled our food. The one bedside light flickered . When we complained the hotel couldn't do anything as not booked directly through them. They paid our tab from night before but only had one drink each. Disappointed we were not able to get a discount for our issues. Too bad for nicer place. We will probably book direct in future.

Excellent choice for couples
Very enjoyable. Friendly staff, clean rooms, a nice view, and a reasonable price. Also in an excellent location, with many attractions within walking distance. Would recommend for people visiting downtown Chicago. Tip: do not drink the water left in your room. The coffee is free but the water is eight dollars a bottle. That's the only negative I experienced, as the water was right beside a card offering free coffee, leading me to believe the water was free as well. Stupid of me, I know.

Location was great for walking along the river, the lake, and anywhere downtown. Very friendly staff, great service and rooms were clean and comfortable.

Only downside was having to change rooms as booking ended up having 2 days in one room and '3rd night in another so we had to go down and check out and in again. This should have been made clear when booking. Ben at the checkin was helpful with this and we ended up with an even better view. Location is prime!! We walked ten miles a day and never needed transportation. We did the walk along beach to the zoo, Mag mile, museums, Hancock tower, parks, shopping and ,many walks along the beautiful riverwalk as well as the Shoreline architecture tour. Love Chicago!
