4/10 Fair

Wouldn’t stay again
I stayed at Hotel Max for 4 nights. I’ll start with the positives - has a good location to downtown, Bell town, Capitol Hill etc. The bed was also comfortable. Otherwise the stay was really disappointing. The hotel in general is a little tired with old school AC units in the window and no breakfast (although there is a Starbucks next door). The biggest problem was that during my stay their boiler broke and there was no hot water. This was not communicated to guests and it was only communicated after I and a number of other guests complained to the front desk. I get the desk staff can’t do much but offering to waive hotel resort/room fees to business travellers doesn’t really do much. The communication was shockingly bad - even after an engineer had been called out - I asked the front desk if the issue had been fixed and the man said he didn’t know but there was a letter in my room stating it wouldn’t be fixed until the next day (which was when I was checking out). There are much better places to stay nearby for a similar price point and with far better customer service.

2/10 Poor

Better places, Not Worth the Money.
One step above awful. Arrived at 4:30p - room not ready. Get into room(which is literally across the hall from the elevator) - tiniest hotel space I've ever seen. I could literally lay my head in the sink while sitting on the toilet; and don't even think about trying to turn around in the shower stall. The room had AC, which was nice but it stopped working half-day through the night. The bed was ok but too firm for my comfort. There also were no beverage amenities in room - no water; no coffee; no tea; no kind of mini bar. Nada. Normally, all the above would have earned maybe a 3-star/Average rating. What made this so awful? NO HOT WATER IN THE ROOM. My husband and I were in town for a concert near by. The kind of show that leaves you covered in smoke and sweat...that you want to walk of in a nice hot shower. Nope. None to be had. We had to do a 2min "in/out" of cold water just to rinse off. When I called down, the front desk responded with, "yea, there's a problem with the boiler. It's being worked on today." Only we were checking out that morning, so who cares if it was fixed later. The hotel offered to take 10% off the bill, but honestly that was more offensive and insulting. You rent a hotel room for two things: a bed and a shower. At $500 a night, I fully expect both. And 10% doesn't make up for spending the next day dirty from the night before.

OMG Don't go here unless you are 22 years old.
The front desk people didn't even know the name of their light rail system is LINK. There was not one flyer available--not even a city map. We had no hot water for 2 days. There was no room cleaning available for us--4 night stay!!! There is no apology from front desk staff for conditions.....Had 4 inch step and a 6 inch step to get into the bathroom.....NOT LIKE THE PHOTOS! Toilet was an old-fashioned circular toilet like we all had years ago-horrible. Again, NOT LIKE PHOTOS ONLINE. Room was smaller than cruise ship cabin. UGH! UGH! UGH!

Overnight and a free beer
It was a short overnight stay. The hotel is quite presentable and in a good location. The front desk provides a locally brewed beer at check-in and coffee is available in the lobby in the morning.

Rude staff
The hotel is in an amazing location. Easy to walk anywhere in Seattle. The hotel isn’t offering any housekeeping which is really no big deal because they are fairly responsive when you have requests. I will say the stuff at this hotel is absolutely unfriendly and curt and rude. I won’t stay at this hotel again because of the staff.
