Great stay at union square!
We stayed here for a week vacation. The location is very good. Easy access to union square and shopping and public transit, including the cable car , which will take you to fisherman’s wharf. The hotel is refurbished older style with wood floors in the rooms. Which are very beautiful, if a little squeaky as wood floors can be. Bed is very comfortable. All was nice and clean. Did not use the gym or the bar, so can’t comment about those. The lighting is quite subtle, so a hand mirror near the window was needed for makeup application. It would be nice if the hotel would add lighted , magnifying mirrors in the bathroom. But would not fit in with style they are trying to attain. We did run the fan at night for white noise, and had no trouble with street noise. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

Excellent Location, Nice Hotel!
Stayed at Hotel G from June 27th to July 1st. Location, Location, Location! Hotel room was clean, bed was comfortable, and bathroom/shower was excellent! Hotel staff was friendly and helpful! We were initially concerned about possible street noise at night but heard nothing as we slept. Took in two SF Giants games at AT&T Park which was a 25 min walk from the hotel (no hills thankfully!). We also took the BART from Powell Station to an Oakland A's game. The BART Station was a 5 min walk from the hotel. Recommend breakfast at Pinecrest Diner across the street...delicious! Have no recommendations for lunch/supper as we headed to check out other areas of SF. Took multiple Uber's to areas around SF (ie. Fishermans Wharf, Nob Hill, North Beach) which were all under $10. Would stay at Hotel G if ever back in SF!

Decent stay at Hotel G
This is a reeeally cool boutique hotel in union square area. My bed was comfy, the air conditioning was good and I thought it was quite a big size. That said, I do think there are nicer, safer areas in the city that I might consider next time for my stay - but it was close to the conference I was at. In general, I've had better staff before at hotels who were friendlier and more helpful. In particular there was one girl working the concierge who always seemed reluctant to answer my questions for example when I needed help to find restaurants nearby or had questions about the area. Since it's not a 5 star hotel there are some things that are a bit strange - for example, when I let them clean my room they didn't replace the coffee pods or tea I'd drank, or fold the ironing board away etc etc which would be nice things for the cleaning staff to do. Since San Fran is sooo expensive I'd say this place is worth the money.

Not bad for price.
Bed was very comfortable. Room was ok considering age of building. Not a lot of cupboard space for clothes. It was quite noisy from outside traffic but the earplugs provided helped. Staff were friendly.

Beyond expectation! Wonderful staff!
We had a very pleasant stay at Hotel G. At first we were a bit skeptical as we had never stayed at a boutique hotel before. We had no complain since the moment we arrived. We were in a rush to return our rental car on our arrival date so I had to drop off the luggages at the front desk first. By the time we returned to the hotel, the staff had already got everything settled for us. Initially we were a bit bummed on the $25 daily fee but we kinda took advantage of it and had a few items shipped to the hotel and wifi was included with the fee. Location wise, it's very central and convenient. It's literally steps to cable car stations, bus stations, Walgreen, restaurants and shops. The room size is decent and the blackout blinds were awesome. It could be a bit noisy at time but it's tolerable. Exceptional service made this hotel outstanding, every single staff we came across was friendly and helpful. We asked for a kettle but we missed it when it was delivered to our room (we didn't hear the knocking) so Nary called and let us know that it was left at the door for us. My friend is a smoker and when she went for her last smoke (close to midnight), the front desk staff even made sure she was safe and checked on her. Overall it's not a fancy 5-start hotel but we enjoyed our stay!
