Good night in San Fran
Smooth check-in and check-out. Friendly, helpful staff. Great central location, right next door to Trader Joe's.

Room was very small and there was no air conditioning so it was quite warm. Staff was friendly and hotel was clean.

Great price. A bit of late night music into the wee hours.

The hotel staff was excellent, very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The hotel is situated well. Short cab ride to fishermans wharf. Close to lots of shopping and restaurants. Easy to catch cabs/buses. The rooms were very clean, however small. The BART stopped within a very short walk to the hotel, and was about 25 minutes from SFO. Overall, a very comfortable, enjoyable stay.

Would return
Can't beat the location, cleanliness and service. Good a.m. coffee & muffins. Rejuvenating soaker tub. Well-maintained homey hotel with lovely staff. Watch for sale prices. Large assortment of wine, snacks, salads etc. at Trader Joe's store a couple of doors away. Great reprieve from a Canadian winter!

My room had almost no sound insulation. They're aware of this and provide earplugs. The person in the next room screaming into his phone at 7am wasn't the fault of the hotel but you should prepare for things like that.

Great location, lovely old building, some issues..
Lots of pluses for this hotel: close to BART, classy lobby, nice folks at the desk, comfy bed, great price. BUT big negative: EXTREMELY hot in the room and no way to turn down the heat (radiator not on), a service person came to help when I found the phone (on the wall -- tiny room with no space for a desk or table of any kind) and opened the window, also turned on a ceiling fan (I turned it off -- don't like a fan blowing on me at night). I left to get some supper and returned 2 hours later, thinking the room would be pretty cold -- it was still way too hot for sleeping. And now very noisy -- major loud construction going on across a big vacant space. This went on well into the night (I finally closed the window about 2). This is a lovely old building, spotlessly clean, not a problem with the shared WC and shared tub/shower (although it was a little unnerving to have the light go out midway in my shower). I don't think I would stay there again, because of the heat issue.

Good Hotel, Excellent location.
This is a good, basic hotel in an excellent location. The room is small but manageable. The shower lacks any pressure. Very clean hotel with the BART, muni, and tram stops just around the corner.
