Highly recommend this hotel
Excellent location, very close to Union square. Boutique hotel that offers good service and has friendly staff. Great value for money.

Poor 2.0
After landing from an international flight I attempted to check-in to this hotel and was told that they had moved my reservation to a new hotel because of overbooking. I walked several blocks carrying all of my luggage to a new hotel where I had to change rooms twice because of a loud air conditioner and filthy bathroom.

Poor 2.0
Very noisy day and night
Unfortunately I would never stay here again as this has to be the noisiest hotel I have ever experienced. The noise is not from other guests but from the building works across from the hotel who start work at 0700 in the morning to the constant shriek of sirens to just the volume of traffic throughout the night. The rooms have no insulation to prevent the noise and even on the 7th floor it resulted in a disturbed nights sleep every night. Staff were friendly but certainly won’t be returning and not value for money.

Fair 4.0
Aging place
The hotel is old, and it is noticeable by specific smell you get in the room and by malfunctioning plumbing. Attempts to modernize is by installing automatic lights in the bathroom, result in having to take shower in the dark. The post-apocalyptic state of the city resulted in rather unpleasant and potentially dangerous homeless incident, and the staff was completely unprepared to deal with it.

Dank room with no curtains
I had previously stayed at this hotel and found it to be adequate. The rooms are small and it's a bit loud at night due to the location and the fact that it's an older building. Nothing to write home about, but nothing unbearable. For the price during that stay, it was fine. This time around it was truly awful. I arrived late in the evening after a day of travel/meetings. The room smelled awful - overpoweringly musty/moldy. I figured it might be something I was noticing more because I had arrived, but after 30 minutes it was still as strong, repulsive, and distracting as ever (and I am not generally sensitive to smells in rooms). The front desk told me that the entire hotel was booked, so they couldn't move me or do anything else for me. I ended up leaving the hall door open to ventilate, as of course, the windows don't open. Then, when I went to bed, I realized that the room also had no curtains! It had sheers, which block no light and still allow you to see right through, but the curtains on the side were completely fake. So, all of the light from the street (and there's a lot, due to it's center of the city location) was glaring into my room all night. Not sure if I was just unlucky, or many rooms are missing shades/curtains??? After this most recent stay, I'm not sure why this hotel has as high a rating as it does (maybe they're old reviews?). As someone who spends a lot of time reading reviews to choose a hotel, I felt compelled to write this.
