Quite a Disappointment
My wife and I had high hopes for this hotel given its 4-star rating and the amount charged, but I'd give it no more than 2.5.
PROS:
- Great location within close walking distance to both the Pantheon and Piazza Navona.
- Very clean.
- Nice, spacious, attractive room and bathroom.
CONS:
- Staff is helpful, but not very friendly. Bordered on rude.
- We were not provided with the room we reserved. We reserved two double beds, but got one king size instead. We could not sleep well as a result.
- Room temperature was too warm for comfort, even after we turned the thermostat down low.
- Bed mattress was too soft and lumpy.
- Could not turn off the TV or turn the volume down. Had to cover the screen with a blanket to cover up the light and sound.
- Restaurant is apparently not good. The check-in clerk advised us not to eat there and recommended we eat outside instead.
- The restaurant was closed for breakfast because we checked out early, so the front desk told us they'd prepare a box breakfast for us to eat on the way to the airport. However, no such meal was provided as promised.
- The front desk would not accept pre-paid outgoing mail, which is a standard service for most, if not all, so-called 4-star hotels. Instead we were told to use an outside mailbox.
- The ride provided to the airport cost 70 euros cash (84 if using a credit card), which is 20 euros more than the government-regulated taxi fare of 50 euros.
In short, we will not stay here again and cannot recommend it.
