Service was excellent, prompt and attentive. The location for shopping was excellent. However, not a 4 star hotel. It has beautiful character, but is dark and dingy in the hallways, carpet needs to be changed desperately and also in the room itself. Room 305 - Lamp was broken at bedside (glass was broken and lamp leaning to one side-dangerous for small kids). Absolutely wretched view of the mechanics of the building only. The restaurant was closed down/not passed by the city to serve food.

Be aware of the $15/day facility charge
This charge is listed as "Optional Extras" on Hotels.com, along with breakfast, valet parking, etc. However, when I noticed the charge is collected, I was told by the property that this is a mandatory charge. I contacted Hotels.com to clarify the charge; however, I was told that it is an "option" charge, and I would have to pay for the use. I would really like to know how "optional" is this optional charge. If this charge is clearly stated, I wouldn't have any problem paying for it. However, "being mislead" is worse than paying bit extra. Be aware! By the way... the hotel is old, but OK for the price.
