Quaint and comfy!
I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the Delta King room was to stay in. We had booked the only place near downtown Sacramento that had rooms available (in town for a concert at Golden 1 Arena during Christmas time), so I was not expecting much more than a clean bed to sleep in. It was a small stateroom on an old riverboat, but it was quite nicely furnished! We were not aware of the valet parking that was available so we had parked in the nearby parking garage, but the price for overnight was not bad at all. Right next to Old Town, easy walking distance to downtown and the Capitol.

A great place to spend the night
Our stay was great. The service, the staff, the valet fellows, the food in the Pilothouse Restaurant, the morning breakfast, everything was top notch. What made it even more special was that we knew the history of the Delta King and it was docked in our town of kitimat in the 1950's where housed many workers.

Historical Paddlewheel Boat/Hotel Old Sacramento
The air conditioning broke, but they moved us to a room which was cooler. We loved it. The receptionist was amazing. We hung out in the pub at night and enjoyed the Irish band. Steps away from historical Old Town Sacramento. What a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back!!

Enjoyable, nostalgic elegance
A friend in Sacramento was having a birthday party and we decided to stay the night/ And I'd always wanted to visit the Railroad Museum so this seemed like a great time to stay on the Delta King. i did not realize how much of a tourist area old town Sacramento is, however. So be prepared for large crowds of tourists ignoring stop signs, crosswalks and the like. Traffic is terrible getting to the Delta King and you definitely want to go with the valet parking (+$22). The hotel itself is the actual riverboat that operated for years between San Francisco and Sacramento. It really must have been a great trip back in the '30s to get on in SF about 6 in the evening, have dinner, a few drinks and wake up in Sacramento the next morning. I would spring for the extra few bucks for the 'river view' next time. The 'city view' side means you are listening to the swarms of tourists on the dock instead of the relative peace of the river. The Delta King is situated in the center of the tourist area making access difficult at best and it's a little pricey. We enjoyed our night these but probably won't repeat because of the location and tourist issues. So if you've never been there and enjoy these sorts of kitchy, quasie historic venues definitely go for the Delta King for at least one night.
