2/10 Poor

They overbooked and gave away my room

I called to confirm my room and give them a heads up that I would be arriving around midnight due to the weather on the roads. The employee told me that my room was ready and that she would make a noted for the person on the night shift. I arrived and went to check in only to find out that they had overbooked, and sent us to another hotel. No phone call, no warning, just poor service.

The Sage Hotel

Everything was very nice, except the bed had stains on the bedspread, and the shower was extremely old, and chipped. We loved the breakfast that was offered. The shuttle driver who took us downtown was wonderful!! He showed us around town first, since he knew we weren’t in a hurry. The staff was very helpful.

Nice Motel Stay

Older motel property- comfortable bed, ice machines not working had to get at front desk, not a big deal but should be fixed. Very nice breakfast. A good deal for the price.

Great location and helpful staff

The hotel is at a great location to several restaurants and love that there is a shuttle service to take you to the plaza and back. Staff is helpful and accommodating. The room was comfortable, lots of updates, coffee in the room, and love the option in having the bathroom heated. Breakfast was good and lots of options to pick from eggs, bread option, yogurt, pancakes, cereal, oatmeal, etc.. They also had different milk options (I.e. almond milk and regular milk).

Old, dirty, smelly, not nice anymore

The property is dilapidated and needs upgrading. I stayed here 10 years ago when everything was fairly new and it was a beautiful place. Now everything is discolored yellow. The paints got dirt all over it, caulking and ceiling on all the corners of the bathroom and walls are cracked and black, there was hair in the bathroom on the shower floor. And it smelled like dirty clothes in the room. This is room 241. Go check it if you don't believe me manager is Sage. Also my Cable TV did not work and I called to ask them to fix it and they said they couldn't it's too late in the evening time as it was almost 9 o'clock and that they would call me the $15 experience fee which they didn't and I ended up paying full price for it. We ordered pizza to stay in and watch movies and we couldn't even do that. We had to stare at the walls and look at our phone. What a horrible experience.

6/10 Good

Promising concept. Short on the execution.

Santa Fe is an expensive place, especially if you want to stay near downtown. We jumped at a chance to stay at The Sage for about 1/2 the cost of our usual choice. We checked in and it seemed fine - what you might expect at a decent inexpensive motel. We got a call within 5 minutes asking if things were as expected and said yes. We hadn't really checked it out at that point. Then we left for dinner. Arrived back about 10pm and found a big clump of dog hair on a chair. Yuck, but oversight. In the morning went to take a shower and found that the washcloths from the last guests were still in the shower. Then found more trash next to the emptied trash can. So,,,, I guess you get what you pay for. Having said that, the front desk staff were helpful and friendly. There is a neat, but incredibly loud bar with live music. Breakfast was included, but was just so so. No fruit provided at all. How hard is it to provide some bananas and apples? Would I stay again? Yes, but I would definitely do a thorough inspection of the room upon arrival.

Fine for a one nighter

It was okay for the price. It was close enough you could walk to the plaza. The carpet was gross and dated, the bed was comfy and fine, that bathroom was also dated. Very basic hotel for someone who needs a place to crash for an evening.

Fantastic location in a nice neighborhood. Breakfast was good and provided options. We walked to Whole Foods, the Santa Fe Farmer’s Market and other bakeries/ restaurants. Live music on Friday and Saturday in the on-site restaurant. We skied at Ski Santa Fe which was an easy drive from the hotel.
