A bad taste left at the end of a wonderful holiday
Just an overnight stay on our way to the airport. Unfortunately our nine year old grandchild left her wallet with her savings and a necklace she had bought in the locked safe in the room. On arriving home, I have tried on three occasions to speak to the hotel about this. Promises to look into the matter and call me back were never followed up on. Even when speaking to the manager, he didn't appear interested. The thirty pounds and necklace are gone! Beware of locked safes in this hotel!

Character Hotel
This is a character hotel with the building dating back to 1844. It was originally built with popular materials of its time, using character bricks, oak beams, and some ironwork. Today it’s been highly renovated and presented with modern facilities and decor that have been sympathetically blended with the old period. It’s easy to find and parking was immediately available around the hotel and in the grounds. I booked and stayed in a Superior room with a king bed for two nights. I found the room to be very spacious and of a high level of comfort. It was exactly what I wanted. The communal areas of the reception areas bar restaurant and breakfast areas were served by well trained and enthusiastic staff that greeted me with respect and were naturally friendly and polite. I would have scored higher but due to some dust found in my room and the TV having limited functionality, and the fact that the cooled mini-bar in my room and not been stocked at all and was empty but on and working, were minor disappointing snags. However: I would happily recommend the hotel and I would personally stay again.

Brief MCR visit
A comfortable one night stay. The room was clean and well appointed. It was quiet, despite the large number of guests in the bar when I arrived!
