Amazing ship

Good 6.0
I stayed a number of years ago on the Queen Mary but could not believe how much deterioration has taken place. It was so sad not to be able to see the grandeaur that once existed. We were not allowed a glimpse into much of the ship.

A Unique Experience
I decided to take a trip to long beach this past Thanksgiving and stayed on the ship. 1) there are additional fees ($20/night for a "resort" fee) & some tourism charge. 2) The ships dining options, at times can be limiting. Having done during a freak rain storm

Eat here, but don’t sleep here!
The room in the photos is not the room you will be staying in. The rooms are about as far from luxurious as one can get. Things in the rooms and hallways (that aren’t part of the tours) are very rum down (there was even gum on the carpet in one of our rooms). Service was not good: long line to check in, told they would bring me boiled water to make bottles and it never came, when the baby beds arrived I was asked if I want wipes to clean them or if I could just use my own. Plus our window was under the gangway and staff were out there smoking the whole time. On the positive side, the food was incredible and the ambience in the restaurant cannot be beat. The service there was also very good.

Character as expected. Room was spacious, sheets were crisp & clean. Perhaps time for a good dusting & deep clean. Otherwise good value for a room with 2 queen beds. Located minutes to restaurants, shopping & all conveniences. A great stop and reminder of yesteryear...

A fun stay
Great old ship, well maintained. The rooms were comfortable but still held glimpses of their old elegance. The best was the tour we took. It was a Paranormal Investigation tour. Advertised as 2 1/2 hours, we were there for over 4 hours and it was fascinating the whole time. Got to areas of the ship where other tours do not go. Highly recommend this.

Hotel disappointing...Queen Mary a landmark.
The restaurant service and food was very poor (Observation Bar) and very expensive for what is was. The coffee bar staff less than helpful. We stayed 2 nights and should have stayed 1. We thought the novelty of staying on the QM was a good idea. Valet staff also not helpful. Parking was expensive in addition to a expensive per day hotel resort fee. No hot water first day. We are well travelled and easy to please, but the hotel experience very disappointing. The QM was well worth the tour with fabulous exhibits. The wedding office was wonderful.

Not your average hotel.
The ship is old and in need of restoration. However, the room was comfortable and atmosphere is outstanding. The craftsmanship in the woodwork is amazing. If you need a five star hotel go somewhere else. But if you want to experience what the golden age of ocean liners was all about, you won't regret it for an instant.

Unique hotel.
An opportunity to have a unique overnight stay. Don’t expect 5 star accommodations. And don’t arrive early. Our checkin time was 3:00 but we stood in a long line for almost 3/4 of an hour before getting a room assigned. The on-board restaurants were nice although a bit pricey. During the evening, our sleep was disrupted by a fire alarm which resulted in everyone onboard having to leave the ship and stand outside for 1/2 hour but I’m sure that doesn’t happen every night. All in all, the ambiance and the historical setting made for a memorable stay.

A very cool 'vintage' experience.
It was a very cool experience. Worth it. There were a few "additional" costs that were a little surprising.
