Parking Policy Ruins It
We stayed at the Halliburton this past week and would not recommend it. Although it is located in a good area and is somewhat quaint (although it is much smaller in reality than the pictures suggest), it is expensive for what you get. Additionally, for a hotel I paid over $250 CDN for ($229 plus taxes), I was very disappointed by their guest parking policies, which are stated, in a frankly cagey fashion, on hotels.ca as follows: "There are limited parking spaces onsite and are available on a first come, first serve basis. Additional parking is available offsite. For more details, please contact the property using the information on the reservation confirmation after booking." What this does not say is that the additional parking is at a city-run pay lot that is about 2 blocks away, and comes with a catch. Although the hotel's check-out time is noon, if you do not snag a spot behind the hotel, you only have free access (on your checkout day, at least) to the offsite parking without paying, even if they give you a parking pass, until 9 am - so forget about sleeping in. You then have to pay the city lot $3.00 an hour to park there, if you wanted to stay at the hotel until your check-out time. The hotel refused my request for reimbursement of this amount - which is frankly quite stingy in light of the $229 room cost and not what you would expect in a hotel at this price point. Additionally, the continental breakfast was below standard for a luxury-priced hotel.

Charming boutique hotel
The hotel was very quaint and within 5 minutes walk of the waterfront. The room was small and the decor is older, but everything worked fine, the location was quiet, and the price was half of what a lot of other hotels in the area were offering. The staff was friendly and they even let me keep my car parked there for a little while after I checked out so I could grab some lunch on the waterfront before I headed to the airport.

Charming, but pass if you have mobility issues.
This is an heritage property divided between three older structures. There are a lot of stairs that are formed to the smaller feet of days gone by. A lot of stairs. We travelled with older guests and it became onerous as you needed to get out of your room down sets of stairs and stairs and then up stairs to breakfast etc. If you have any mobility issues, reconsider this property. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were clean. Charming atmosphere.
