highly recommended
My stay at the Haliburton was great. The staff was very helpful, the breakfast room was lovely and the food just fine for continental (lots of choices) and I really liked my small but perfectly adequate room - other than the fact that 3 flights of stairs was very good exercise but not great with a suitcase. I would definitely recommend it. The bed was very comfortable! I would definitely recommend it.

Parking Policy Ruins It
We stayed at the Halliburton this past week and would not recommend it. Although it is located in a good area and is somewhat quaint (although it is much smaller in reality than the pictures suggest), it is expensive for what you get. Additionally, for a hotel I paid over $250 CDN for ($229 plus taxes), I was very disappointed by their guest parking policies, which are stated, in a frankly cagey fashion, on as follows: "There are limited parking spaces onsite and are available on a first come, first serve basis. Additional parking is available offsite. For more details, please contact the property using the information on the reservation confirmation after booking." What this does not say is that the additional parking is at a city-run pay lot that is about 2 blocks away, and comes with a catch. Although the hotel's check-out time is noon, if you do not snag a spot behind the hotel, you only have free access (on your checkout day, at least) to the offsite parking without paying, even if they give you a parking pass, until 9 am - so forget about sleeping in. You then have to pay the city lot $3.00 an hour to park there, if you wanted to stay at the hotel until your check-out time. The hotel refused my request for reimbursement of this amount - which is frankly quite stingy in light of the $229 room cost and not what you would expect in a hotel at this price point. Additionally, the continental breakfast was below standard for a luxury-priced hotel.
