Read This Before Booking!
We came from NY to visit Ottawa (first time) for the weekend. Family of 4. First of all, I may have missed this in other reviews, but there is NO elevator. Minor inconvenience? Yes. End of the world? No, but we didn't love carting all our stuff up and down the stairs. The staff was great - friendly and courteous. I was surprised they had NO travel brochures or printed maps and recommendations. I can't recall the last time I was at a hotel without a brochure stand full of visitors information. Our room was just OK. Two Queen Beds as expected. The carpet was terribly dirty and stained. Our non-smoking room (aren't they all?) smelled of smoke. The carrot was just disgusting with stains. The bathroom was a bit grimey along the edges. The free breakfast was decent. Your standard offerings like eggs, sausage, bacon, various cereals, yogurts, toast, bagels, english muffins, waffles, etc. The workers seemed to do their best to keep the busy area neat and tidy. The hotel itself was decently located, easy to get on and off the highway and Downtown Ottawa was about a 15 min drive. I will not book this hotel again - the room was just too dirty and I didn't appreciate the cigarette smell. I did not complain about the cigarette smell because the thought of possibly lugging all the luggage, bags and cooler back up and down the stairs again wasn't appealing. Other reviews I read called this a no-frills hotel - which it absolutely is, but no-frills doesn't mean dirty.
