Our initial room smelled of hydrogen sulphide. All rooms were tired. To be fair, the…

A very comfortable classic hotel. The front door is opened by a uniformed doorman, discrete music playing in the bar, several lounges and a choice of buffet or hot breakfast to order. The hotel is central to everything, all bus lines on the corner, a short walk from the train station or to the bus station with excellent direct link to LHR and LGW. The room was very comfortable with a great bed, robes, slippers, a safe, tea fixings and very quiet.
Beautiful historic property and I loved that breakfast was included in our rate
I always peruse the comments of a place before I visit, and from the earlier comments with MR, I knew that the type of room might colour the experience. Check-in took a bit longer than it should have, there was a line-up and only two front desk receptionists.Thought the current Front Desk were very kind, efficient and I could see they expedited things as quickly as they could. The raves about the staff at this hotel are well-deserved; from front desk, porter, housekeeping, to the man who checked my A/C (which hadn’t worked as a window was slightly open and they are sensored), all were friendly and accommodating and seemed happy to be there. This is a testament to good management. Room was much smaller than either depicted in any of the pics I’d seen or the advertised one, but to their credit, I was given the option to let Front Desk know, though after a hot, humid day of traveling, did not want to queue again for a new one. I had written before my arrival to let them know I needed hypo-allergenic pillows, which were forgotten, though important to note that housekeeping arrived with new ones very quickly, and even took the feather cushions out, which I really appreciated. Bed far too soft, and wifi out in the morning. Needs updating, not a 5-star, but the staff make it a lovely place to stay if you can find a deal, and the location can't be beaten.
Silly and confusing breakfast hot-cold offering. No porridge in either cold or hot menu
There is construction still ongoing. I thought it was to be finished last Fall.
The breakfast wasn’t that great, poor selection & food was just so so 6/10
Apart from the location which is very good, the hotel is over rated. We did not get value for money (and it is expensive). The rooms are tired and old and we were given a room which was far and we had to go up and down stairs to navigate to it. Staff at the restaurants seemed new and needed more training to serve and improve their attitude. When I was leaving I asked for help with my bags. No one came, so I lugged 2 cases and 1 hand carry. On the way, a staff member saw me struggling, but did not offer to help. We booked this hotel given the its reputation, but were let down and will not return again. In the summer we were at Malmaison (another top hotel) and paid the same, but got much more value for money and were very pleased by the hotel, staff and service.
The Randolph is an institution, central to Oxford, beautiful building with lovely staircase and all the classics. The rooms have been refurbished, especially in the bathrooms. The rooms are still dated, but lovely in their own way, with a desk and sitting area. The steam rooms downstairs are wonderful, and give a real lift. Location is, of course, wonderful. The one big drawback at the moment is the scaffolding covering the building, which reduces the charm somewhat. On the whole, though, a great experience.
Perfect location. Hotel was beautiful (inside .... the front however was covered in scaffolding)
Beautiful hotel, close to everything in Oxford. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Wouldn’t hesitate to come back to this hotel.
