Went for a long weekend warmth break. Beautiful hotel, beautiful location. Service good albeit a bit slow. Water sports equipment not available 2 out of 3 days and no bikes available which was a bit of a pity but it would be churlish to say this was anything other than a lovely place to stay.

Great hotel in Paradise
Great hotel by the seaside . Rooms have a good veranda where you can sit outdoors and enjoy the view and sea breeze

Beautiful resort, but a disappointing stay.
Food selection limited at Le Fare, beachfront restaurant. Breakfast room delivery menu-a la carte options didn’t make sense. Male concierge spoke little English and when we asked hime about a shuttle bus, he told us it was unreliable. A number of the staff were unfriendly or not interested or happy in their job. No shop in resort.

Average
Average stay, breakfast room is crowded, and the beach restaurant is slow. Beach isn’t private.

Billing mistake, uncoordinated staff, wrong wakeup
1. Pros: I was able to check-in earlier than normal, but being gold elite, I guess it's somewhat expected. I had no upgrade, but as it's stipulated in their policies, it's only upon availability, so I didn't make a big deal about it. The hotel has a nice beach location (although the beach isn't private, and often squatted by locals). The Meridien is one of ONLY two upscale hotels in Noumea, so there's barely any other option while there. 2. Cons: basically, don't expect any service from any staff. It's slow, basic and you often have to repeat many times what you want in order to get it done. The major problem appeared the checkout day. I had asked for a wake up call at 5.40 AM and I got a call at *4.50* AM from the guy at front desk who realized, as he woke me up and enunciated the call, that he had made a mistake and inverted the digits... A genius... Anyway, as I head to reception to do my checkout, I verify the bill, make a modification on it as I had prepaid for everything via hotels.com, including breakfast. I hand over my card to the guy, who charges me for everything! I realize the mistake too late and express my frustration, as my taxi is already waiting for me outside and concerned I'm going to miss my boat. It took him about 20 minutes to issue a cancelation after maybe 10 failed attempts. To this day, I still haven't been credited back.
