The wifi needs work but everything else is great
Great hotel but spotty wifi. Close to everything but get ready for lots of stairs. I don’t recommend if you have mobility issues

The room was very plain with nothing exciting or negative to say. Tried watching tv for but most channels did not come in. The location was the reason for our booking.

Fabulous location right across from the Walter Scott monument and walking distance to Edinburgh Castle, Royal Mile, Holyrood Palace and Dean Village. Staff were very helpful in recommending places to see and also held my luggage before check-in and after check-out while I explored the City.

If you are interested in staying in an old hotel with atmosphere in a great location staying here would be good. It is however looking a bit tired. Staff was friendly and helpful

Absolutely fabulous location - just steps from airport bus, railway station, and easy walking distance to many sites of historical interest. Staff were always pleasant and helpful. Rooms were spotless and bed was comfortable. Negatives: The public areas of this hotel were quite shabby, and the armchairs in the bar area were filthy. There is no air conditioning, so I would be hesitant to book a room in the summer. Also, the central location made it quite noisy in the evenings, and the lack of air conditioning made it essential to keep the window open.

Edinburgh stay
The Old Waverley Hotel was wonderful! Very well situated, being that it is centrally located to various tourist destinations. Very comfortable, clean rooms, two very nice dining rooms, giving guests a cost choice when dining there. Staff were very helpful. One drawback however, was the 27 steps up to the Reception area. No lift up,until you reach the front desk. So,not good for disabled people.
