My only concern was the dryness and warmth of the room and I turned the heat down to 16 in the evening and it still registered 20 degrees. Room 201. Would go back again

LIFES A BLEACH! Fairfield by Marriott Penticton
We were very disappointed and dissatisfied with this hotel! We went to our room and the smell of bleach in the hallway and hotel room was horrendous, so strong our eyes burned and we were coughing. We had trouble sleeping and tried to stay out of the hotel as much as possible. We couldn’t believe the strong smell of bleach and we further investigated to find out there was a recent fire at the hotel and the bleach was used to cover the remaining smell of smoke and water damage. We were showed another room but it was just as bad for the smell of bleach if not worse. This hotel shouldn’t be up and running, after an ‘incident’ like this using that much bleach isn’t healthy and patrons should be advised of the recent fire when booking as per health regulations and allergies. We would of never booked or stayed there knowing this. We would like a refund for our stay or even free nights at a different Fairfield by Marriott hotel that is in good working order. I would consider this the worst experience we have ever had booking through Hotels.com. We discussed all of this with management and they said they would speak with you as to compensation. Good, but could be great
Staff were very nice. Hotel is conveniently located. The room was large, and had a fridge and a microwave, however there was nowhere to sit to eat, so uncomfortable unless you were in bed. Rooms are not restocked or cleaned unless you request it and as a result, we were out of coffee, sugar,etc. from day 1 onwards. Wet towels were placed outside door and not replaced. I realize we could phone down and ask for these items, but that’s a hassle to do every day. These measures were certainly needed at the height of COvID, but I question the necessity now.
