Handy and serviceable. Great location.
the best thing about the mercure is its proximity to Paddington station and easy access to downtown london. It is reasonably priced but most of therooms are small.make sure you try for an upgrade

Exceptional 10.0
Nice stay at the Mercure Paddington
The bath tub was against an outside wall with a window, so it had a shower curtain covering it. There was also a shower curtain on the opposite side of the wall. this made it hard to turn around without getting one or both shower curtains stuck to me. But this was my "biggest" problem. Both the bathroom and the bedroom were huge for England clean and very comfortable.

Convenient location for Paddington
Needed a place to stay before catching a flight from Heathrow. Very convenient location close to Paddington Station and Heathrow Express service. Check-in and out was quick and efficient, and the staff were friendly welcoming. Unfortunately the elevator went out of service just after check-in and was still broken at check-out... on the plus side, good for cardio, but still an inconvenience (hence the 3 rating for Property Service and Condition). Breakfast (in the adjacent restaurant) was very good, with a wide selection and efficient, courteous service.

Poor 2.0
This is a terrible hotel. It is not a 4* hotel by a mile. The rooms are small and the photographs of the lobby and rooms on the website are unrecognisable. A four star hotel should have a doorman or porter or both. This place has neither. The tiny bar is not staffed and must be covered by the over worked reception staff. There is one tiny and slow lift. It is outrageous that they can charge €200 per night for this level of accommodation. My room key appeared to have been programmed to believe that I was only staying one night as each afternoon I had to return to reception to have it re programmed. I was told this was happening because I was keeping it with credit cards or Oyster card which was nonsense. As I was on the 4th floor and and due to the slow lift and queue at reception on Friday afternoon I still hadn't got into my room ten minutes after returning to the hotel. There are building works next door and road works in Praed Street so rest is impossible into the early evening. The works next door involve machines breaking up concrete so there are thumping vibrations as well as noise. Even allowing for the temporary inconvenience of the building works I cannot understand how Mercure Hotels allow their name to be attached to this dump.

Great location tiny room not value for money
The room is absolutely tiny and it is noisy and the air-conditioning didn’t work so she’s blowing out hot air. The location was excellent right by Paddington station exactly what we wanted but in terms of the price paid and the size of the room we don’t think it offered value for money.
