We were staying in the Lodge and the bridge was scarily narrow despite having a small car and there was no parking once we got to the Lodge. We had been offered to be taken in a buggy which I would have accepted if the narrowness had been emphasised. It was very anxiety provoking. Otherwise it was a lovely place which I would recommend Ps the Orangery staff were excellent

    Castle Nightmare!!!!!!!!

We added Dalhousie as our third and last stop over in Scotland, room was pre-booked and paid for 8 weeks in advance. I upgraded the room in secret to a second Themed Four poster room on suite with outside Balcony space, as a surprise for my wife. The room supplied was not the one paid for nor was it even listed listed or pictured on their site. The room was called "Robert the Bruce" on the third floor (there's no lift so 5 flights of stairs to climb with luggage together bad legs. No bell boy at hand) the room itself was big, tired and dark with only 1 window, dark carpet, dark walls and dark furniture with very minimum lighting. The dark Oak four poster was 7 foot across and 8 foot long and about as comfortable as a surfboard, the on suite bathroom was tired and dirty with a leaking shower screen which left a pool of water in one corner after showering. There was no daily cleaning of the room, nor fresh linen or towels (Regardless of Covid situation this was not good). We opted to eat in on our first night at £50 per head, we were told to report to the Alexandra Room 30 minutes prior to our booking. After waiting 15 minute we were supplied a menu and asked if we would like drinks, where upon we ordered a Brandy/Coke and pint of Lager. Drinks arrived 10 minute later, Lager was flat/spoiled but there was nobody to question this. After sitting waiting to be seated for dinner for 40 minutes we left our drinks and went to reception to complain, and left to eat out.

The castle rock suite was perfect for our needs, a separate lounge area (we made this a bedroom for our child and dog too) -the main hotel is not dog friendly but the rooms at this hideaway retreat on the grounds were just as nice

    Really lovely Old Castle Hotel

Lovely stay, bar staff not so great, almost like we were bothering them. Room fab, the Spa lovely, the staff there really good. Receptionist really helpful, breakfast nice. Will go back but tell bar staff to be a bit more helpful.
