2nd visit was even better.
This was our second stay in two years, staying for the annual Ironman. It’s about 15 mon out of town and is perfect if you want to enjoy the beach and pools and chill. Very kid-friendly. Buffets at mealtime are still plentiful - not gourmet but lots of variety and good food. A few things have changed since last year. The on-site washer and dryer no longer are available. This was unexpected but they have laundry service in a pinch. Washing clothes in the sink wasn’t ideal because the clothes took a few days to dry with the humidity. The other thing that was different was the mood of the staff. They were markedly happier than last year. They are always helpful and efficient, but this year the stress level was not noticeable. The beds were comfortable, the AC worked in the rooms, as well as hot water. Coffee was good and plentiful at breakfast and the beach gorgeous. This is a great place to stay for the Ironman bc you can easily get onto the bike course for training and the access road along the resort is great for a run. The resort did a great job supporting the athletes with night-before carb meal and 4am breakfast and shuttles to the race start. Also, if you can, wait and rent your car onsite. Much cheaper and you don’t have to ride an airport shuttle ;)

I wish I could do a full review of the Allegro but we never got to stay there although we booked and paid up stay there. We arrived at the airport at bay to find out by the taxi driver that there was a fire at that hotel and guests were being dropped off elsewhere. We were shocked because not one single person from the hotel called to inform us of this. They took us next door to the Occidental and from the get go, we just weren’t comfortable but what could we do? They gave us a room and told us that our of the 6 days we were going to ge there, we could only eat at a particular restaurant twice!! What happened to all inclusive? And I get that this wasn’t our original hotel but I couldn’t believe they were limiting the guest like that. We got or bracelet keys and headed to buffet by beach because we were hungry and OMG, every single thing in their buffet looked so gross!! My 3yr old was hungry and I had to walk around that place twice to see what decent edible thing I could give him :( I found cold hot dogs. After that, I told my husband that I couldn’t stay there and feed our baby that gross food so I got on the phone with Expedia to get out of there. They had no idea that our reserved hotel was not available and they worked pretty quickly to get us out of there. We ended up in such a better hotel with the food being way, way better! Sorry I can’t review the Allegro and it’s sad because we solely booked it for the water slides for our toddler.

Recently, Allegro was warned by fire officials that there are multiple violations of a fire code at the hotel. ALLEGRO DID NOTHING TO FIX THEM. As a result, fire broke out in the KIDS CLUB on Aug.1st, 2022. No fire alarm, staff was completely helpless and useless. Fire hydrant was empty and crews had to pump water out of the swimming pool. Evacuation was a complete mess, management - rude. They packed us into the Occidental Cozumel and kept there for 10 hours, outside. Riot police showed up due to rising tensions b/w guests and staff. Management response to questions and complaints - "You should appreciate what we are doing for you!". Nice, right? Telling it to people who lost everything in the hotel fire caused by their negligence. So, ruined vacation lost property scared kids = "worst vacation ever".

Overall very happy with this stay. The hotel has a good location. Pools area is juat down the rooms and is very enjoyable Entertaiment staff is awesome. They have activities day and night to keep you active and engaged. Staff is very friendly and attentative. Food waa very very good Great Vacation. Thanks Cozumel Palace. We arrived the day of the fire. We lost days on our vacation due to being pushed from resort to resort and having to ride the ferry to Playa Del Carmen to stay. Management at allegro has not answered anyone back about refunds
