Exceptional
Lovely and charming SF hotel.
Nob Hill is a gorgeous, historical hotel filled to the brim with character and charm. The front desk attendant greeted us warmly, gave us a SF map and spent over 20 minutes orienting us to must-see attractions, including used bookstores and vintage shops. The rooms are cozy, clean, and charming. We can't wait to come back and stay longer.

Very Good
My go-to SF hotel from now on
Stayed at the Nob Hill after I found out that the Pickwick had cancelled my reservation without telling me (yes!) and with no justification. I was lucky to find the Nob Hill - not as close to where my son lives, but really conveniently located a few blocks from Union Square and a few blocks from the theatre district. I felt safe walking outside, and lots of restaurants etc in the area. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Yes, the elevator is quaint - but is works well. Room décor is from the period - antique wrought iron bed head and foot; beautiful desk and nightstands, all in keeping with the style. Drapes in the room were beautiful. Large bathroom with tub/shower. Just the carpet could have been upgraded - it was old and somewhat stained Bottom line - this will be my go-to San Francisco hotel from now on - affordable and great value for the money.

Not totally what I was expecting!
A bit disappointed with hotel, very old and needs upgrading for the $$ you, pay! Service was great at front desk, parking not convenient as it's off site. Have to park around cormer in garage on another street and parking garage not afffiliated with hotel. Elevator very hard to manage with luggage as it original with the arm gate that hold open and swing door to get luggage on is a difficult task. It is located in knob hill district if you want to be down town. Very disappointed with the downtown as very dirty and smells of dog urine from people letting them go on trees on Side walk when walking them, not the hotels fault though!

Older boutique hotel in San Francisco. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable. Good value for price. Would stay here again

Never again! Not at all as presented on web site!
I don't know where the pictures on the web site came from. But the rooms did not look anything like the pictures on the site. We were charged for a premium room (Double King) but when I got there I was told there was no double king rooms. (even though there is a picture on the site of a double king room) There was no place to park to check in. I called the hotel at least 5 times to try to find out where I was suppose to park to check in. Never got an answer, just a message stating the voicemail was full. I had to self park three blocks away and carry my luggage back to the hotel. The elevator is an old style with a door and gate. Very hard to keep open and get your luggage in at the same time. The only good thing and can say, is the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean.
